Summary

To participate in the JESICS ACADEMY e-Learning courses and to be eligible for certificates, your consent is obligatory for collecting and processing your data as you do the courses.

Data about your progress and achievements and anonymized feedback are recorded and stored within the online platform to grant you a certificate upon course completion. These data will be analyzed a) to evaluate and improve the e-Learning courses, and b) for scientific research purposes. All personally identifiable data will be anonymized prior to data analysis. and will not be analyzed individually, but on the group level only. 

Moodle log data can also be used to trace any deceitful attempts at cheating. We have detected attempts at deceit in the past. Cheating will not be tolerated.  Please be fair to yourself and your peers. We are confident that you will learn successfully, earn your credits, and thus be able to receive valuable course certificates!

Your participation in the e-Learning courses of the JESICS ACADEMY is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw at any time. Note that upon withdrawal all your data will be removed and you are not eligible to a certificate anymore.

About JESICS ACADEMY

The JESICS ACADEMY online Learning Platform provides Electronic Resources in Interdisciplinary Computing Studies.

JESICS ACADEMY has been developed by the German-Egyptian cooperation project JESICS+ (Joint development of E-Learning Services for Interdisciplinary Computing Studies) between the Institute of Cognitive Science, Osnabrück University, Germany and the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. The JESICS+ project is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the German Federal Foreign Office (AA).


Your rights

We believe there are no known risks associated with the e-Learning courses of the JESICS ACADEMY; however, as with any online related activity the risk of a data breach is always possible. To the best of our ability your data will remain confidential as we will minimize any risks by storing the user data on a server owned by the Osnabrück University, Germany according to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and restricting access to user data to project managers only (cf. contact details below).

You have the right to
